Adopt a Shelter Cat Month: Circle of Friends Animal Society
If you didn’t know already, June is Adopt a Shelter Cat Month! What better way to celebrate than by… adopting a shelter cat! There are so many reasons to adopt a cat (or two… or five…..;). You are saving a life, and they very well could save yours too. The unconditional love that you will experience after welcoming a pet into your home is indescribable – there is nothing like it. All five of my fur babies are rescues. Three came from Circle of Friends Animal Society, and two I rescued as strays. I wouldn’t trade any one of them for anything in the world. My home is full of so much love and so many laughs, and it is my hope that everyone gets to experience that. If you don’t already have a kitty, I hope that you will consider adopting one.
As the official kitty paparazzi for Circle of Friends Animal Society, I thought I would feature some of the wonderful kitties they currently have up for adoption. For an $80 adoption fee, you can bring home a big ball of love that has already been neutered/spayed, vaccinated, and tested for all of the necessary things. They also have a multi-cat adoption special: adopt one, get the second (or third!) for $40. You can’t beat that!
Roscoe
This adorable boy is Roscoe! He spent the afternoon cuddled in my husband Bobby’s arms. He played and romped around with the other kitties for a bit, but then he decided that he wanted to cuddle. And boy, was he good at it too! He has already been neutered and vaccinated, and when it comes time for his boosters, they are free of charge if you take him to one of the veterinarians that COFAS is partnered with. Roscoe would make a great addition to any family!
Lucy
This is Lucy! Lucy is a sweet tuxie girl with a lot of spunk! I had a hard time getting a good picture of her because she was so active. She especially enjoyed playing with the feather toy. She finally curled up in the top of the cat tree and modeled for me, where she loved being petted and rubbed on. Like Roscoe, she has been fully vetted and is ready to go home with her furever family.
Julie
This gorgeous girl is Julie. Look at those eyes! And those signature tortie markings! Julie is a little bit older – a year and a half old – so she has outgrown the high-energy kitten phase, but is still very young and agile. She is extremely laid back and affectionate, and she LOVES people. As soon as I started petting her, she turned the purr on and rubbed her face against my hand. I imagine she will make a purrfect lap kitty to a very lucky person.
Blueberry/Tux
Meet Blueberry/Tux! It doesn’t seem as if a name has been settled on (though I think Tux suits him better than Blueberry). This little buddy has been up for adoption for several weeks now, though I’m not sure why. He is very sweet and playful, and he is handsome too. This picture does not do him justice – he wasn’t a very cooperative kitty model. But I do know that he is anxious to find his furever home. Will it be yours?
Sunny & Shelby
These two are Sunny and Shelby. They look like twins, don’t they? They are actually from the same litter – one male and one female. They are quite a pair. In this photo they after the feather wand toy (which explains the blurriness). They were also very intrigued by the illusive red dot. Though they are not required to be adopted together, I know they would love to be. Remember – adopt one, get another for a half-priced adoption fee!
Quinn
This unique looking boy is Quinn. How about that soul patch? He is a rambunctious little guy – he just likes to play play play. He gets along very well with the other cats, and he also enjoys people – anyone who can be his playmate. He is also a very sweet boy too. A perfect combination of playful and lovey. Plus, he’s super handsome. Quinn has it all, and he’s ready to join your family!
Mahone
This hunk-o-love is Mahone. He is 7 months old and is the biggest lover boy. He followed me around the adoption room, rubbing my legs and purring the whole time. Whenever I petted him, his eyes lit up. He has the most laid back and loving personality and would love nothing more than to curl up in your lap or arms. Mahone will an amazing addition to one very lucky family.
The Babies
And last but not least, the babies. How adorable are they?! See the little guy in the top right picture – there are six of him! Squeeeeee cute – every single one of them. These little kitties are not old enough to be spayed or neutered, so they aren’t quite ready to be adopted yet. They will be soon though, and when they are, I know they will be thrilled to join a loving furever family. Perhaps that family will be yours.
If you are interested in any of these adorable kitties, please contact Circle of Friends Animal Society or come to PetSmart in Macon, GA this weekend. They will be there Saturday and Sunday from 12:30-4. If you are not anywhere near Macon or don’t even live in Georgia, there are animal shelters in your area that have kitties for adoption too. Please consider visiting one and bringing home a new fur baby. I guarantee you won’t regret it!

I love these adorable fur babies — if I could adopt all of them, I would except that I’m running out of places to put litterboxes.
I have five rescues as well. I adopted them when they were all adults – 2 years and over. This was perfect for me because I could really see what their personalities were like and how well they would fit into the household.
Thanks for sharing!

These kind of posts are so dangerous for me. I’m just one step away from being a Kindly Cat Lady (hate the term “crazy”).

Mom is so in love with so many of these kitties. But she knows that our dad won’t let us have anymore than our eight. Your photos are great Mom Emily, and we will be purring and praying that they all find purrfect homes. Astrid is sending lots of kisses and purrs to Sampson. She also mailed him a package today, which should arrive on Monday. XO, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
