Kylo Ren is our king adventure cat. He loves being out and about, following a hiking trail or side walk, cruising down the river in a canoe, kayak, or even a boat, and exploring nearby parks. He thrives on these outdoorsy adventures. Urban adventures though? Not so much. Too many people, too much commotion.
We are trying to change that though. Our hope is that Kylo will eventually be our go-everywhere adventure kitty. To try to get him more accustomed to urban adventures, we are easing him into it. This past Saturday, we decided to take him to a couple of parks that are downtown – more people, more cars, more hustle and bustle.
Our First Stop: Washington Park
Washington Park is a small little park in downtown Macon. It is surrounded on all four sides by busy roads, so there was definitely more commotion than what Kylo is used to. He wasn’t too sure about it at first, but he got a bit more comfortable as we explored. He never completely relaxed, but considering how he usually reacts to commotion and cars, he did very well.
We only stayed for about 10 minutes or so – didn’t want to overwhelm him – but we did have time for some good photo ops!
Washington Park used to have waterfalls and streams, but they are dried up right now. So we got to walk the “stream trail,” which is right up Kylo’s alley.
Our Second Stop: Coleman Hill
Coleman Hill is also right in downtown Macon, but it’s a little quieter than Washington Park because it’s bigger. It’s an especially neat spot too because it overlooks the city.
I think Kylo enjoyed Coleman Hill a bit more than Washington Park. He seemed a bit more relaxed there. I was very pleased with how he did overall though. We still have some desensitization work to do with him, but he is getting better! It won’t be long before he is down for an adventure anywhere and everywhere!

My Angel Bobo was like Kylo Ren! My ex and I used to take him everywhere on his leash, he LOVED it! Cody wants no part of it!

The last photo with Kylo Ren standing inside a sculpture is purrfect!

Good for Kylo Ren! I’m the opposite – I’m more used to urban locals than trails, but that makes sense since my human is not much of an outdoors type. Plus I love when people pay attention to me!
