Playtime at Amerson River Park with Sophie and Caster

November 5, 2018 9 Comments

A couple of weekends ago, when the weather finally started cooling off, my husband and I took Sophie and Caster to our favorite local park. Caster hadn’t been out in a while, so we thought it might be good to get him back in the adventure game. He wasn’t too sure about it at first, though I think that was because there were a bunch of young kids when we arrived. He settled after a little bit, but he decided that he wasn’t in the mood for an active adventure. He plopped down in the grass and just enjoyed observing his surroundings and watching Sophie frolic around.

And frolic she did. She ran around and chased bugs most of the time. And when I say ran, I mean she really was running. Not out of fear, but out of excitement. She was having the best time.

I wasn’t able to get many photos or videos because I was busy playing with Sophie, plus it was an overcast evening. I did manage to get a couple though.

Because Sophie had such a great time on the first adventure, we took her out for another one a few days later. She was really distressed at first, and we couldn’t figure out why. She was crying and obviously unhappy, which is unusual for her. We were about to pack it up and head home when I noticed that she kept sniffing and digging around in the grass and pine needles. I realized she needed to go to the bathroom!

Sophie has “used the facilities” once before while on an adventure, but it was a few years back. It’s never been something she’s gotten the hang of, which is why she was so distressed. She needed to go to the bathroom but didn’t know what to do. She finally figured it out and popped a squat in the grass, thank goodness. I was so proud! MOL. I’m still waiting on Kylo Ren to discover the ability to go potty outside!

I think the Fall weather is here to stay, so hopefully we will be getting out for more adventures. Stay tuned, and don’t forget to subscribe to our monthly e-newsletter below!

Well that sure sounds like it was quite the adventure. I’m glad Sophie, the poor dear, managed to poop outdoors. That surely must’ve been stressful for her. Mom and dad have yet to let me outside, with the exception of trips to the V-E-T of course. Have an awesome week.

Rainy had a less pleasant bathroom experience earlier this fall. We were on a therapy visit. Rainy started out fine but then started to meow and pace. I couldn’t figure out what was wrong, but told her that we could leave if she wanted. When she frantically pulled her blanket into a bundle, I realized that she might need to go to the bathroom. I immediately put her into her stroller and left the facility. Unfortunately, I thought it would suffice for me to bring her home, but she ended up having to use the bathroom in her stroller. Lesson learned on my part!

On a happier note, my husband and I fostered two-week-old kittens this summer and got the opportunity to teach them how to use the bathroom. We were such proud parents when they began peeing and pooping in the litter box!

I never thought about Angel or Chuck needing to ‘go’ while outside!

I’ve only gone outside once… and it was a similar situation to Sophie! I was behaving like I was really distressed, and it took my human a moment to figure out what was up.
