There are several pet fountains on the market today, but our favorite one by far is the Raindrop by Pioneer Pet! We have had the privilege of trying out a couple of different fountains, and we have to say that the Raindrop ranks #1 in our books.
Let’s take a quick look at why the Raindrop is so awesome:
- Circulating drinking water is naturally appealing to your pet. Studies have shown that animals prefer to drink from a running water source than from a stagnant one.
- It uses replaceable charcoal filters for clean and healthy water
- Its dishwasher safe, stainless steel construction allows for easy cleaning
- Using stainless steel bowls help to protect your pets from bacterial infection
- The modern rain drop shape compliments décor of any room
and our favorite feature…
- IT IS SILENT! Seriously. Unless you are standing right beside it, you won’t even know it’s running. And even then, all you hear is the quiet, almost inaudible hum of the motor.
*Not to point any fingers at a particular cat, but… *cough cough DELILAH cough cough*
Since we’ve had the Raindrop, I’ve noticed that the cats have been drinking more water. It’s rare that I catch them drinking, but the water level gets lower more often than with their regular water bowls or with the other fountains we’ve tried.
It really is incredibly easy to put together and clean too. It takes me just a couple of minutes to take it apart, clean it, and put it back together. It can be run through the dishwasher as well, which is great. Plus, the replacement parts and filters aren’t expensive, so it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg to maintain.
(For optimal performance, Pioneer Pet recommends that you clean the fountain once a week and disassemble/clean the pump once a month.)
Personally, I love the design of the fountain as well. It is sleek and simple, and the stainless steel look matches the appliances in my kitchen.
So in conclusion, we give the Raindrop 20 paws and two thumbs up!
Pioneer Pet actually has several different fountain designs and sizes. We recommend checking them out. You’re guaranteed to find a fountain that suits your needs!
Before we wrap things up, we are excited to announce that Pioneer Pet has agreed to giveaway one 60oz. Stainless Steel Raindrop fountain to one of our readers! The giveaway is open to US residents only, but international readers are still invited to enter, as they can gift theirs to a US resident or shelter/rescue should they win.

We would love to win one of those1
We get our water in the traditional bowl…Pipo was too messy using his paw to dip and lick in our old fountain…so we retired it, MOL. Our bowl is glass to make for good cleaning.
Ice cubes to keep it cool…

That Raindrop fountain looks awesome!

We’ve tried several fountains, and I really like stainless steel or ceramic ones, but the one Goro loves is plastic. That Raindrop fountain is fantastic! I’ve thought about trying it but haven’t done yet. Maybe I should give a try!

We’ve gone through several water fountains, would love to try a steel one!

We have a stainless steel fountain (another brand) and we all love it. The humans would like to have one for the second floor. Maybe we can win this one. It sounds terrific. Astrid is sending her handsome Sampy a kiss for every drop of water that will ever go through that fountain. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

We have several of those raindrop fountains here and we totally love them!
Sammy says
WOW……that fountain is more like a work of art than a spot to get a nice fresh drink of water but we just love it. If it’s silent maybe I wouldn’t be afraid of it??!!
Love, Sammy
Jean Dion says
That’s great! I’ve steered clear of fountains in the past, as so many of them are made of plastic. Many of my cats have sensitive chins, so they just can’t handle plastic bits. This might actually work for them. Yay!
Oh, and I’m doing a little sweepstakes of my own this week, all about cat food! Hope you’ll come by.

Carol Burgess says
I keep water in several rooms to keep my cat hydrated. This is AMAZING! Thank you for the chance!
Sarah D. says
I encourage my pets to stay hydrated by flavoring their water, freezing food inside pupsicles, so that they have to drink to get to the food, and lots of other ways!
Theresa Spaid says
They are all good about going to water bowl and drinking water. They love their water.
Joanne says
Would love one of those for our kitties!
Dezi and Lexi says

We already have a fountain that the mom encourages us to use to stay hydrated, so if we win this, we’ll donate it to our local rescue.

I encourage my furbabies to stay hydrated, by making sure they always have clean fresh water available.
Michelle Wolff says
Looks great! I love that it’s quiet
Lola The Rescued Cat says
What a great review! We love that it’s silent because we had a fountain once and it scared me. It was so loud that Mommy had to unplug it when she was watching TV!
meowmeowmans says
That was a terrific review, and an important post about why pets need to stay hydrated!
Ellen Pilch says
That looks great! I like it better than the ceramic because I am a klutz and would break one of those.
Rachel Shubin says
We use lots of fountains and water dishes! This one looks great.
Simon says
I have one raindrop, but sure could use another. Some of my cats like it and use it, some ignore it and insist they be served directly from the kitchen tap, others use it less frequently than their non-fountain water bowls.
DJ says
I always keep several bowls of fresh water out for them.
Fur Everywhere says
I had never considered that the noise of the fountain’s running water could be what scares Lita with our current fountains. I’d love to win this one and give it a try with her!
BeadedTail says
That is one cool fountain! We don’t have any type of fountain so we’re crossing paws that we win! Right now we have glasses all over the house to drink from since we won’t drink from a plain ole bowl. We like to drink from a sink though or catch a few licks of the water as Mommy is filling up our glasses with fresh water!
Kjelle Bus aka Charlie Rascal says
COOL design !
XOXO

Would love to win this for our two new adopted kitties!
Raven says
That looks like a great fountain design. Splashing fountains are for the birds.
Daniel Scott says
We add ice to the dogs’ water bowl, but not to the cats’ bowl. The cats seem to like their water cool but not ice cold.
Cathy Keisha says
Since I don’t drink H2O, TW gives me a lot of wet food. A couple of times a year I drink from our 360 so she doesn’t know if I’ll like this better or not at all.
Robin says
What a cool fountain! I love that it is silent. It would be awesome to try it out with Cinco and Manna.
Linda Szymoniak says
With four dogs and three cats, I’m constantly cleaning out water dishes and refilling them. I keep two in our main bathroom, two in the kitchen, two on the deck (for the dogs – my cats are indoor-only), and even a small bowl in the upstairs bathroom for my daughter’s cat at night. Right now my dogs and cats typically drink from the same bowls and I’d love to give my cats a source of clean, fresh water without dog slobber.
Christy Paws says
Our raw wet food has lots of water in it. Mom keeps a big bowl of fresh, filtered water for us, but we need a fountain!
Heather Coursey says
I’ve been looking for a good fountain for my cats.
Sweet Purrfections says
We have a couple of fountains in our house. We haven’t tried this one, but it looks very interesting
Carolsue says
I want to keep my male cat hydrated because of his lower urinary tract blockages — the vet recommended a fountain
Jennifer Martell says
I do leave lots of trays of water outside and wiggle the water bowl for them to check out when they come inside for a snack.
Tenacious Little Terrier says
I add extra water to Mr. N’s meals.
Beth says
This sounds like a great fountain! I just fill my pets’ waterbowl and hope they are all getting enough to drink.
