Sophie’s constant chirping to be picked up eventually evolved into her climbing, which then eventually evolved into her jumping. I’m not going to lie, Sophie isn’t the most graceful of jumpers. There are still many times that she misses her target. Sometimes she jumps and instead of jumping forward onto the couch/bed, she either jumps just straight up or backwards. Every now and then she is embarrassed by these failed jumps (so of course we pick her up and give her extra attention and love), but most of the time she isn’t phased and just tries again. She is always so proud of herself, and of course we are proud too. She has so much fun doing it too – it has become a game to her. We will be sitting on the couch watching TV, and she will just jump up and down, and up and down, over and over again.
Watching Sophie grow and develop has been an amazing journey. Sure, CH cats won’t “get better.” But they sure can adapt and learn!
Check out Sophie’s jumping video… guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

I have to say, Sophie is more of a jumper than I am! My human says I am a little bit lazy. Maybe I should take some lessons from Sophie – she has such a great spirit.

Sophie is a magnificent jumper and I can see she’s really improved over time. I love how she widens her back legs to help balance – cats are so adaptable. We love Sophie’s spirit! PS. Can I please reserve a play date at BlogPaws! xx

It must have been very hard not to help her when she chirped. But with your patient support not to, Sophie has become really great jumper! You are wonderful pawrents and she is such an amazing girl!

Your video brought me happy tears! I have a cat with radial hypoplasia. His front legs and paws are severely deformed. Luckily he gets around pretty normally. I just worry about his legs holding out when he gets older, and his back from all the pressure ๐

The video of Sophie is adorable! Carmine also likes to jump. When he was 6, he started to not be able to jump, so I took him to the vet where we found out he has arthritis in his hip. Since he’s been on his supplement, he has been able to run around and jump again, and does he ever love that! ๐

Howdy sweet Sophie! Seeing you always makes our day!

Thank you for this wonderful explanation of CH and the inability to jump. We had friends with a CH kitty who visited us frequently and not only was she incredibly sweet, she was very smart and found ways to get up onto things without needing to jump far.

Well done Little Sophie! And well done to your pawrents too! Our Mama thinks cats are like elephants and they never forget anything so she thinks it is good that you “let go” and gave Little Sophie her independence otherwise she would have you tightly wrapped around her little paws! When Mitalee came to live with us eleven years ago, she had been badly abused so our Mama was over compensating everywhere. She would even lift Mitalee up to her feeding bowls because she wasn’t sure if she had enough strength to do it on her own. Eventually, she stopped doing this but eleven years later, Mitalee will still sit once in a while on the floor below the feeding bowls waiting . . . in the hopes of being lifted up! ;p

This is great! Usually, we see kittens with CH and not adults at Tree House. It’s so wonderful to see how well they can adapt as they age! – Crepes.

Sophie has learned to be an excellent jumper! I think your videos are a great way to show that these special kitties are very adaptable and can do just fine in a home where they are loved and encouraged to be the best kitties they can be.
