However, I was recently introduced to a new product – the Zeo Litter Bags. These bags are made by Zeomatrix, a small company in Maine. What’s so great about these litter bags, you ask? They are 100% compostable with patented, odor absorbing technology. They’ve taken an ordinary paper bag and turned it into an environmentally-friendly and odor-free product for disposing of your cat’s litter and waste. The zeolite coating on the inside of the bag actually absorbs the cat waste odor so that you can dispose of it in your home without having to smell it!
• Captures odor with zeolite technology
• Plastic-Free
• Naturally biodegradable and compostable
• Made with 100% renewable materials
If you’d like to read more about the company and their product, their Kickstarter page has more info as well.
So what do you think? Is this a neat product or what!
*We were not compensated in any way for this post. We were just asked by the company to help spread the word about their campaign.

HI! We’re glad to meet you too! And thank you so much for telling us what that instrument was!! You’re the only one who knew!
Wow, I kinda like the idea of that bag.. but it seems kind of small, I can see spilling all around it because it’s not much wider than the scooper. I wonder if they’ll make different sizes? Interesting though!

Hi Andrea,
I manage Zeomatrix, the company the created the Zeo Litter bags. The bags will actually be bigger than the bag featured in the photo here; we just haven’t had a chance to update the photo. Also, the bags have been tested on cat waste and dirty litter, and there haven’t been any issues with them being too small with the dimension of 13in.x7in.x4in. Thanks for your interest!

This is such a great idea for a product! My human worries about this sort of thing too.

Sounds like a viable product. We use World’s Best cat litter. It is made out of corn so we can flush waste down the toilet as corn is biodegradable in of itself and won’t hurt the pipes. That is the best solution we have come up with since bagging waste , still means there is waste inside the bag that will need to decompose and that is a problem when using clay litters.

We think we would fill that bag right up but there are 7 heavy, um, eaters, yeah eaters here. MOL Good idea though

I’m not sure about those. We use the Litter Genie and for us it works great.

This looks like a super product. Can I just throw the entire thing into my composter? I guess I should check out the campaign and read more. A little donation wouldn’t hurt to get some bags to try. Thanks so much for letting us know about this. Astrid is having a very nappy day today. One day she is all cranked up and zooming, and then the next day she naps. She is sending her sweet and lovable Sampy a kiss for every individual fur on his body. Sending love to all. XO, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

This is a great product. The mom uses the plastic bags from the grocery store now, but we can see the day when those bags will be no more.

Very good idea to reduce the use of plastic bags.
The Zeo bag may be compostable, but you have to be very careful about composing animal waste. It shouldn’t be composted into soil that will be used for edible crops (your home vegetable garden). I’ve often thought about using the bags that you find in ladies restrooms for personal hygiene disposal. They’re lined to prevent moisture from getting out, but the bags are way too small. A larger bag like these would be usable.
I checked out the kickstarter campaign ….have to think about it since I’d prefer to pay with PayPal, not a credit card. Hmmm.

That sounds like a really cool product. I hope they get the funds they need to launch their product.

I read about this litter bag somewhere recently. This is very great product! I thought it can be used for something else, too, like small trash or something.

I really hope they are able to reach their goal! This product would be nice to see being used in homes instead of plastic bags.
Connie says
well now that is interesting.. but I wonder what they will cost.. because grocery bags are free..
(also find it cool they are from Maine where I am)
