This past Friday, the KCC Adventure Team went on their biggest adventure so far this summer. We took the canoe out to nearby Lake Juliette. Kylo Ren and Sophie have both been canoeing before individually, but we’ve never taken both of them out on the canoe together.

It was definitely a successful trip, but there was one aspect to having two cats that my husband and I both overlooked. Because he was rowing, he couldn’t hold one of them. I did my best to balance both cats on my lap at the same time, which worked most of the time. Thankfully we always bring their Sleepypods with us out on adventures, so when my lap got too crowded, one of them could retreat to their Sleepypod Fort. We decided though that we were going to add a platform to the canoe that will sit across the boat for one or both cats to sit on. That way we will all be more comfortable and everyone can have an awesome view!
We still managed to have a wonderful time though. We were out on the lake by 8:30 in the morning, so it wasn’t super hot yet. It stayed a comfortable temperature for the duration of our outing too.
The highlight of the morning was definitely the ducks! There were three of them that were paddling around in the lake nearby. They actually came right up to the canoe asking for food, so Kylo and Sophie got to see them up close. The ducks didn’t mind the cats one bit. Maybe they knew they were untouchable in the water… 🙂
The excitement of the canoe ride and the duck sightings wore both Sophie and Kylo out. Before we made it back to shore, they were both zonked out together in one of the Sleepypods…
Another super fun adventure with the KCC Adventure Team in the books! Looking forward to our upcoming road trip to Florida, where Caster and Kylo Ren will have another opportunity to boat down the St. John’s River.
