The Many Adventures of Gryphon the Kitten

January 8, 2020 12 Comments

Little Gryphon has been with us for almost 6 weeks now. In that time, he has already been on FOUR adventures! He’s too small for regular kitty harnesses, so I crocheted him a makeshift harness for now. It works pretty well!

His first outing was to PetSmart right before Christmas to get his picture made with Santa. He did so well on that trip, especially considering there were lots of dogs. He didn’t flinch though, and we got a cute photo of us with Santa.

His next big adventure came just a couple days later, and it was a big one! We took him with us to my parent’s house for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. My parents live a couple hours away, so this was his first road trip. I can already tell he’s going to be a great traveler. He didn’t make a peep in the car the entire ride!

He was a bit nervous once we got to my parent’s house though. I think the new environment, new people, and their dog were overwhelming for him, but he settled in some and had a good time. We even went out in the backyard for a bit and explored, which he really enjoyed.

Over our Christmas break, we also decided to take Gryphon on his first hike! Kylo Ren came along too. It was a new hiking spot for all of us. A loop trail called Pig Trail just a few miles down the road from us. It was a lot of fun. It was wooded and quiet, which is Kylo’s favorite kind of spot. There was a creek too, which was cool. We will definitely go back again!

Gryphy did so well on the hike. He’s not very good at walking on the leash yet (understandably so), so he rode on Bobby’s shoulders a lot of the way. He was very interested in everything though and didn’t seem scared at all.

In the spirit of trying to train Gryphon to be comfortable with ALL kinds of adventures, we decided to take him with us to Lowe’s a few days ago. He was pretty nervous at first – lot’s of noise, and it’s such a big place. But he settled in eventually. He got tired and ended the outing with a nap in my purse.

Gryphon the Kitten is proving to be quite the adventurer already! I’ve never gotten to start adventure training with such a young cat before. Sophie, Kylo, and Caster were all a few years old by the time we starting taking them out. This is a new experience for me, and it’s been so much fun! Because Gryphy is starting so early, I think he’s going to make an amazing adventurer!

Gryphon is just too adorable! If I were out and about, and saw him in a store, I’d forget all about what I was shopping for, and simply follow you all around, making smoochy noises at him!
And I’ve been thinking about Kylo Renn, since over the holidays I watched #9, then #8 twice, then #7 again, then went back to see #9!

That’s awesome! Ferret harnesses actually work great for kittens. For my fosters, I usually start with the small ones and slowly move to the large ones.

Our dad had shown Mom a couple of these photos on Facebook. Gryphon is absolutely adorable, and it does seem as if he will become a mighty adventurer. We loved the Santa photo. He will be an Amazing adventure kitty. Dad so wishes he could still get around and take us on adventures. He thinks Einstein would really enjoy it. We will have our big fenced in yard next spring though and cant wait. We want to see lots and lots of adventures with Gryphon and the family
