Be Prepared for Pet Emergencies: Save with Varo!

June 21, 2019 2 Comments

Having pets can be expensive… especially when you have seven cats like I do. (We can all agree that it’s worth it though, right?) Basic month to month expenses such as food and litter can sometimes hurt the bank account, and then when you factor in the veterinary expenses? Yikes. Even just a routine visit can be expensive. It seems like lately we’ve been walking through a revolving door at our veterinarian’s office, with costs adding up left and right. It’s times like these that a little stash of emergency savings can truly be a lifesaver. This is where Varo can help!

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Varo. The opinions and text are all mine.

This post is sponsored by Varo.

What is Varo?

Varo is totally fee-free online bank. They offer high-yield savings accounts that don’t require a minimum balance. With all of the fees that some banks charge, you could pay for a vet visit for your cat! No need to worry about that with Varo. Also, when you use Varo, you can get paid up to two days earlier with Early Direct Deposit – that’s more money to pay those vet bills, earn interest, and save for that ‘What If?” fund.

(Varo currently does not support joint accounts or business accounts.)

Always be prepared!

Just this past week, we’ve had to unexpectedly spend over $200 on two vet visits for Sampson. Last month, we dropped almost $500 on Delilah. And over the holidays last year when Caster was really sick, we spent I-don’t-know-how-much money on vet bills. Like I said, we’ve been walking through our vet’s revolving door a lot lately, and it’s been breaking the bank.

Having a designated savings account for your pets is a great way to always be prepared for those unexpected costs. The majority of my cats have preexisting conditions that prevent me from being able to have pet insurance for them. This means that a pet savings account is my only option for making sure I have the funds to cover any medical expenses. Even if your pets are insured, a pet savings account is awesome for helping to cover any additional costs that insurance doesn’t cover.

As the Boy Scouts say, always be prepared! This is why I’m grateful for Varo and their fee-free savings accounts. With our pet emergency fund, we will always be ready for those unexpected vet visits!

Why Varo?

  • No fees! By avoiding fees, you’re already ahead of the game.
  • Varo pays one of the highest Annual Percentage Yields of any other bank in the country (up to 2.8%!).
  • Get paid up to two days earlier with their Early Direct Deposits.
  • Easily manage your account right from your phone. The Varo app is available on iOS and Android.
  • Easily make cash deposits at Green Dot® Network locations

With so many great features and ease of use, a better question would be “Why NOT Varo?” I can’t think of one reason!

Hope that the door to your vet office doesn’t get darkened by you walking through it anytime soon…a saving account for kitties seems a great idea!
