Playtime with the PetSafe® Whimsy

It’s been like Christmas around here with all of the fun toys and products we’ve been getting to review in preparation for our big Blogoversary Giveaway on Monday! Last Friday we reviewed the PetSafe Flitter toy, and today we are reviewing the PetSafe Whimsy. It is another home run for PetSafe!
The PetSafe Whimsy is an automatic cat toy that connects to almost any counter, table or other sturdy surface and dangles a fun teaser teaser ball for your cat. The arm spins around and around, tossing the ball in all different directions. Its movements are random, and it changes directions, so it keeps those kitties on their toes! The string also has a safety breakaway feature.
As always with the PetSafe interactive toys, the Whimsy has a Play-While-You’re-Away mode. When activated, it will play immediately, and then once every 2 hours for a total of 3 play sessions. However, you should always observe your cat playing with the toy before leaving them to play with it when you aren’t around. During normal play mode, the toy will shut off after about 10 minutes so you don’t have to worry about wasting battery power.
The boys got a real kick out of this one. Sampson in particular loves it, as the ball attachment has feathers on it, and Sampson has an odd obsession with feathers. They were mesmerized by it at first, and just sat there watching it go. Then finally Sampson took the first swing…
I think I had just as much fun watching them play and be entertained by the toy as they had playing with it. It was also easy to install. It clamps right on to the counter and easily comes back off when it’s time to put it away. The only downside to it is that sometimes the string and ball get caught on the clamp when the arm spins around. I had to free the ball a few times.
