Romping with the RoloRat | Review & Giveaway
Disclosure: This post and giveaway is sponsored by PetSafe. We received a FroliCat RoloRat in exchange for our honest review, but this did not influence our opinions at all. We only share information that we feel is relevant to our readers. PetSafe is not responsible for the content of this post.
Is Christmas here already?! It sure seems like it after opening a package that recently arrived on our door step! Thanks to PetSafe, we received a FroliCat RoloRat to test out, and man, has it been a hit!
I’m always skeptical of these “fancy” cat toys. It always seems like cats are entertained the greatest by the most mundane and simple things – like a milk jug ring or a balled up piece of paper. The RoloRat has proven me wrong, at least in this case.
The RoloRat is a plastic, battery-powered toy with light-up eyes and whipping tail that rolls around on the floor to engage your cat in play. Its unpredictable movements entice your cat to use his natural hunting instincts to pounce, chase, and stalk.
As soon as I loaded the batteries in (requires three AAA, not included) and turned it on, my gang was intrigued. For the first twenty seconds or so they didn’t know what to make of it, but once Caster took the first pounce, he was in the zone and there was no coming out of it. He and Sophie are obsessed with this thing. When it’s on, they won’t let it out of their sight, and they actually take turns dragging it across the floor by its tail. Delilah and Sampson remain spectators for the most part, and Sassy isn’t much interested in it, though I’m not so sure how willing Caster and Sophie would be to share anyway…
The RoloRat stays on for about 10 minutes before shutting itself off. (You can manually turn it off anytime as well.) When the rat turns off, Caster glances up at me and gives me a look as if to say, “What happened? Make it go again!!”
No fear, Caster! The RoloRat has a “Play While You’re Away” feature. When this feature has been engaged, the RoloRat will come on automatically every 2 hours for 10 minutes. We have tested this feature out, and it’s actually really neat. As soon as the RoloRat comes on and starts making noise, Caster and Sophie come running from wherever they are. It’s so cute.
The only possible negative thing I could say about the RoloRat is that the mechanical, drilling sound it makes has the potential to be irritating. But it’s not that bad, and the RoloRat is awesome is so many other ways!

That does look like fun! I would love to try one out!
Sounds like an intriguing toy. It’s always tough to predict how Sam will react to ANYTHING these days being the age that he is but he does need the exercise that playing with toys gives and this might capture his interest because it “reacts”……..Love the photo and video!

That is such a cool toy! Looks like it was a big hit for Caster and Sophie. Wonder if our boys will like it. I like that the toy has a “play while you’re away” feature!
That looks like so much fun! I’d love to win it. If I do win, I hope Ocean will share it with me.
We got one of these to review too. I LOVE playing with it! Wally was a little bit afraid of it. He;s a weenie. ~Ernie
My cats would go bonkers over the Rolo Rat! That love these mechanical toys, especially with tails.
I entered with Facebook under “Amie De”. I think my cat might like this! She sometimes takes a bit to warm up to a new item (like her cat climbing set I spent a lot on and got her, then I was worried for months it hadn’t been worth it but then she started using it and now uses it a lot), so she would probably learn to love it.
Someone with have fun with that. The noise from those things usually scares us.
My cats would love it just to chew on the tail!
The kitty boys would go nuts for this toy. The guys are only 18 months old and in total play mode unlike the older cats. The RoloRat would be a lot of fun for the cats and for us. Cheap entertainment!
We know Yang and Scylla would love it. Socks would be scared of it. Yin, we are not sure about. She is more skittish than Yang, but she has a streak of daredevil in her. So she might be scared at first, but after watching Yang and Scylla play with it she would probably play with it too.
I knew that multiple cats would be fun to watch with it and yours sure were!!!! Obviously we aren’t entering since we just reviewed it, but you did a great review!!! Loved watching your kitties with it!

They are older now especially Mushu by I think they would have fun with the mouse.
One of the boys would love this toy. The other might bat it around a little, he is 16, but still plays some. Thanks for the giveaway

So glad that they like it! The video is really cute, and Lita was fascinated! We look forward to trying ours out (we won one from Caren and Cody)!
This is so super cute. Mom knows Fiona would really like this and probably some others of us as well. If we don’t win it, we are putting that on our Christmas list for sure. Astrid sends Sampy all her love and a kiss for every mouse ever caught by a cat (including the ones Astrid herself has caught). Love and hugs to all. Hope to see you for Selfies tomorrow. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
I have 4 rescued cats and they would love this toy
OMC all my cats would love this!!!
My cats would have so much fun this this.
We think we would love to have one of those, Minko would likely be the most active to chase it, and chew off the tail…or try to.
Thanks fur this giveaway!
OMC Mudpie would love that toy SO much!!!
My six cats would love to try out the Rat.
My boys would love this!
my cats tend to be freaked out by motorized toys..
My cats would probably love this so much. They would really love the tail to chew on. 🙂
My mom got this toy for our cats for the holidays. My boy cat LOVES it but has already chewed half the tail off. Is anyone else having this problem? I can’t imagine leaving it out for them while no one was home.
We know Yang and Scylla would love it. Socks would be scared of it. Yin, we are not sure about. She is more skittish than Yang, but she has a streak of daredevil in her. So she might be scared at first, but after watching Yang and Scylla play with it she would probably play with it too.
