Hello, and Happy New Year! We hope that you all had wonderful Christmas and New Year’s celebrations. We took a little hiatus over the holidays, but we’re back and ready for an exciting 2019! Things have already gotten off to a fun start for us.
You may remember that Sassy recently joined the KCC Adventure Team as an adventure kitty in training. Up until yesterday, she had only gone on backyard adventures, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She was a stray cat before we rescued her though, so she has spent plenty of time outside. It’s been several years since she was outdoors though, so we’ve been easing her back into it.
Unfortunately, our winter has been extremely wet and rainy so far. This past weekend we enjoyed the first sunny days in what seems like a couple of weeks! It was warm too, so we decided to expand Sassy’s horizons and take her on her first park adventure. We hit up Amerson River Park. Apparently everyone and their mother had the same idea though because the park was super busy and fully of people and dogs.
Sassy was nervous at first, I think because of all the hustle and bustle. If it had been a quieter day at the park, I think she would have been more comfortable. Because she was nervous, we decided to just sit in an out-of-the-way spot in the grass and people watch. Sassy sat in the grass between us and eventually settled down. I could see her demeanor change from nervous to intrigued, which was fun. She even got comfortable enough that she got up and decided to do a little exploring.
I am excited to Sassy’s adventure progress, as I think she’s going to take to it quite quickly. Be on the lookout for more adventures with Sassy this year!
