Sophie Goes to the Big City
This past Friday, Sophie and I took a trip to the Big City of Atlanta! The Barkworld Conference was going on, and though we couldn’t attend the conference because of work, we did get to drive up on Friday evening to visit with some of our fellow blogging furiends.
The drive up was long, as Sophie cried most of the way. As much as she loves adventures, she really hates the car rides to get to them. The 1.5 hour drive seemed like forever, but we finally arrived at the Loews Hotel in Atlanta, and we were warmly greeted by furiends Julie (Sometimes, Cats Herd You), Jeanne (Random Felines), and Paula (Sweet Purrfections).
As soon as we arrived in their hotel room, Sophie had to explore. Then she spent the rest of the evening begging everyone to play “Stick” with her. Stick is her most favorite toy – a broken wand toy that is nothing but the plastic wand and the knotted, chewed up, hanging string. She did succeed at suckering everyone into playing with her. I think she wore Julie, Jeanne, and Paula out! MOL! She also put on her best modeling face and hammed it up for every camera in the room. It was quite ridiculous.
After dinner and hang out time with our furiends, meeting the crew from Catster Magazine (who will be featuring a story about Sophie in the near future), and a quick surprise visit with Susan (Life with Dogs and Cats), we had to head back home. Thankfully Sophie was worn out from meeting and greeting and playing, so she slept most of the way home. Though the trip was short and sweet, we both had a great time. It’s always nice to spend time with “our people.” 🙂 Here’s to the next time!
