Thankful Thursday: MobiPet, Psychics, & Donations!
The first thing we are thankful for today is being winners in a MobiPET giveaway! A few weeks ago, Tails from the Foster Kittens hosted a giveaway for a few MobiPET tags. And guess what?! We won! We rarely win anything, so this was pretty exciting news.
MobiPET is a new service that is just starting up. It’s an Amber Alert style system for lost pets. If your pet is registered with them and gets lots, someone who finds your pet can take a picture of the MobiPET tag and text it to the number on the tag, and they will then receive your contact information to let you know they found your pet. MobiPet will also email a photo of your pet and contact information to all registered animal shelters, veterinarians, and boarders within 30 miles and text the info to all registered MobiPET owners within 2 miles of where the pet went missing. Pretty neat!
We decided to register Caster with the tag we won. He is the most curious about going outside and sometimes tries to slip out the door. Hopefully we won’t ever need the service, but if we do, it’s seems like a great one to have!
We were also chosen by Crepes from Cat in the Fridge to have a psychic reading done on Sassy! I asked the psychic, “I would like to know about my Sassy’s past. She is FIV+. My husband and I found her as a stray in our old apartment complex. She was already spayed, so she must have belonged to someone at some point, however we had no luck finding her home. She is very irritable and not friendly with other cats, so it makes me wonder what her back story is. Did she have a family who abandoned her or dumped her because she is FIV+? Does she dislike other cats because of fights she has been in (she has a few scar spots on her side where her fur doesn’t grow)?”
To read what Nancy the Psychic had to say about Sassy, you can check out Crepes’s post. It includes lots of cute pictures of Sassy, and a very neat explanation about Sassy’s past. While I’ve never been one to believe in psychics, it does give me some peace of mind to have some sort of explanation and story about Sassy and where she came from. We very much appreciate Crepes for choosing our question to be answered by the psychic!
And finally, a big thank you to Sparkle the Designer Cat! Sparkle celebrated her 2000th post (wow!) last week, and to celebrate, she hosted a commenthon. For every comment on her post, her human would donate 50 cents to kitties in need (up to $50). Which kitties in need would that money to go, you ask? The readers got to choose! In the comment left on the blog, you were supposed to suggest a rescue organization or shelter, and Sparkle would choose one at random. We suggested that the money go to Circle of Friends Animal Society because that is where Delilah, Sampson, and Sophie came from. COFAS definitely has a special place in our hearts. Well…. COFAS was the organization chosen by Sparkle! How pawesome?!?
Concatulations on your 2000th post, Sparkle, and concatulations on winning the donation, COFAS!
