Unfortunately, most cats will deal with pain and inflammation at some point in their lives, whether it’s from a surgery, injury or trauma, or a chronic or degenerative condition. While pain medication can certainly help to manage these issues, some would rather take a more natural approach to pain management and healing. Or maybe they would like an additional treatment to go along with the medication. Either way, the Assisi Loop Lounge™ by Sleepypod® is a great solution.
What is the Assisi Loop?
If your first thought when you read “Assisi Loop Lounge” was, “Assisi what?!”, don’t worry. We were out of the loop too until just recently (pun intended ;). Now that we’ve learned more, we can’t wait to tell you all about it!
The Assisi Loop was developed by Assisi Animal Health to serve as a prescription-only, non-pharmaceutical solution for pets to aid with things like:
- osteoarthritis
- pain
- inflammation
- wound healing
- post-surgical healing
- degenerative disorders of the spine
- internal issues such as pancreatitis
- and more.
The Assisi Loop incorporates targeted Pulsed Electromagnetic Field technology (tPEMF) to support the body’s own natural anti-inflammatory process. The microcurrent delivered from the Assisi Loop “enhances nitric oxide production, accelerating the healing of soft and hard tissues – including the skin, tendons, ligaments, bones, and organs.” It has been scientifically proven to alleviate pain and inflammation without the undesirable side effects caused by extended use of pharmaceuticals.
Sleepypod + Assisi Loop = Assisi Loop Lounge!
It’s no secret that we are big fans of Sleepypod. Not only are their mobile pet beds our #1 choice of carrier when we travel, the kitties use them for naps around the house on a daily basis. When we heard that Sleepypod collaborated with Assisi Animal Health, we knew that could only mean good things.
One of the obstacles pet owners may run into with the Assisi Loop is getting their pet to sit still long enough for their treatment. To give cats and small dogs a comfortable space to receive their treatment, Sleepypod joined forces with the Assisi Loop to develop the Assisi Loop Lounge. The Assisi Loop Lounge creates a contained, comfortable space for healing that can be used at home or on the go.
Benefits of the Assisi Loop Lounge include:
- accelerated healing
- reduced inflammation
- pain alleviation
- total body treatment
- all within the comfort of your cat or dog’s Sleepypod bed/carrier
Assisi Loop Lounge Specs
The Assisi Loop Lounge comes with the following items:
- one therapy pad containing two loops
- two side compartment therapy pads
- one controller box containing rechargeable batteries
- one plug for wall outlet
- one Sleepypod Air or Atom carrier
To use, you just remove the normal foam padding from the Sleepypod Ultra Plush bedding and replace it with the Loop Lounge therapy pads. The Loop Lounge has a treatment field that extends up to 10 inches from the floor of the carrier so any small animal inside is guaranteed to experience nose-to-tail and nose-to-top-of-ears treatment.
While treatment regimens with the Assisi Loop Lounge will vary depending on what is being treated, a single treatment session usually lasts 15 minutes. Your veterinarian will advise you as to how many and how often to administer the treatments. Depending on the underlying condition, you can expect to see noticeable relief for your pet after anywhere from the first few treatments to after 2+ weeks.
How do I get an Assisi Loop Lounge?
As mentioned, the Assisi Loop Lounge is available by prescription only. If you think it may be a beneficial treatment option for your pet, consult your veterinarian. He or she can then write a prescription, and you will be able to purchase one directly from Assisi Animal Health.
While none of my cats have a need for an Assisi Loop Lounge right now, I’m glad to know they exist if we should ever need one. This is definitely the kind of treatment I would want to provide for my cats. As much as they love their Sleepypods, I know they would feel right at home in an Assisi Loop Lounge too!

At 14 and a half Pipo is showing some signs of OA, plus he has those digestive issues. so something like that might really help him. Something to talk to our vet about.
