The Bathroom Mystery
As many of you probably know, we like to play the Whodunnit game in our house. We have had several cat mysteries that we’ve “needed help” solving in the past, and this time is no different. What’s the mystery, you ask? Whodunnit this time?? Keep reading!
As anyone who has a cat knows, they are prone to finding secret hiding spots or getting trapped in rooms or closets, not to be seen for hours at a time. This is why I do a head count every night before we go to bed – to make sure no one is destined to spend an entire night stuck in the office or the pantry or the coat closet or the you-name-it. A couple of nights ago, as usual, I performed my head count. Everyone was accounted for, so we went upstairs to bed.
The next morning, I woke up to get ready for work and immediately noticed someone crying. I nudged my husband awake and said, “Bobby, something’s wrong, someone is crying downstairs” and we went to go check it out. What did we find?
The door to the bathroom was closed and a cat who will remain unnamed was trapped inside. We let _______ out, and Bobby and I exchanged confused looks. “How did this happen? I KNOW ________ was out and about when we went to bed last night.” We peeked inside, and this is what we found.

Now, at first glance, this doesn’t look like much to talk about. But let me explain…
This unnamed cat (UC) removed everything from the trash can. This occurrence, by itself, still not a whole lot to talk about. However, not only did UC remove everything from the trash can, UC used said trash can as a litter box. So let’s recap: UC managed to shut themself in the bathroom for an unknown amount of time, remove everything from the trash can, and pee in the trash can. All without knocking the trash can over. To me, that is the craziest part.
It’s times like these I wish I had cameras set up in my house.
So… whodunnit?

We don’t know you for a long time, we cannot say who could be UC ; maybe Sampson ? UC deserve an award anyway for peeing in the trash can WITHOUT knocking it over ! Purrs
I’m sorry, but LOL! How did UC remove all the trash and pee in the trash can without knocking it over? That’s such a delicate and skilled work! Applaud, applaud… I have no idea, though, who UC would be. Maybe Delilah? Can’t wait to find out!

I think maybe UC got locked in the bathroom accidentally (maybe by another cat) and caused all the mischief as revenge.

Hmmmm…Delilah looks innocent, Sampson looks surprised, Sophie looks ashamed, Sassy is definitely showing that incredulous not-me look, and finally Caster has the please-forgive-me-and-give-me-a-treat look. Though Sophie does look guilty, we don’t think she could have done all that without knocking the trashcan over. We’re going with Sassy on this one. We never guess anything right, though! Astrid is sending good luck purrs to Sampson for the Quest. She hopes to post about her wonderful gifts next week. She will be featured tomorrow (again) for our Caturday Art. I always say, when in doubt, blame the peeps. Of course, when it comes to peein’ in trash cans, you’ll be pretty hard pressed to find a peep willin’ to take the blame. I suppose you should just be thankful it wasn’t on the floor.
