Geez Louise, it’s been a while since I have been able to sit down and actually write a blog post rather than just post photos. It’s been a busy time in the Land of Hall, but hopefully things will start slowing down soon and I’ll be able to post more often AND visit/comment on our furiends’ blogs in a timely manner, rather than the 2-3-4-5 days later schedule I have been on as of late. The kitties say there is no excuse for my slacking. They are cracking the whip!

Anyway, we have a few exciting things in the works right now. As many of you know, I started working on Sophie’s therapy cat certification back in May for her birthday. It is now time for her to begin her supervised visits! We have to have 10 hours of supervised visits before she can be officially certified (5 of which have to be done by the same person), and then the supervisor has to fill out and sign a form saying they think Sophie will be a fantastic therapy cat! WE know Sophie will make a great therapy cat, but the problem we have run into is that there are no chapters or other therapy pet teams from Love on a Leash near us, which means they don’t have someone to send to do Sophie’s supervised visits. The alternative is to have someone from one of the facilities Sophie will be visiting, like the volunteer coordinator or activities manager, do the supervising. We have contacted the biggest nursing home/assisted living/retirement community in our town about the possibility of doing her supervised visits there, but they turned us down and said they don’t currently have an interest in pet therapy with a cat. While we are disappointed, we aren’t going to let this setback hinder us. There are a few other similar facilities and a children’s hospital in our town, and we will be contacting them in the coming week. Paws crossed that one of them agrees to do her supervised visits and that we can get started soon! We are both very anxious and excited.

So excited that I got her a present! More info on the present in a later post, but here is a teaser photo:

In other news, we will be having a house-guest soon! Not your typical house-guest either. This will not be a human house-guest, or even a cat house-guest…

It will be…

Photo: Ellie

a WOOFIE!!! The woofie’s name is Ellie, and she is my mother and father-in-law’s dog. They will be going out of town for two weeks at the end of the month, so Ellie will be coming to stay with us. Delilah, Sampson, and Sophie already know Ellie, but Sassy and Caster do not. We are curious as to how the two of them will react to her. This will be a test run for us, as we have be seriously considering the possibility of adding a dog of our own to the family. We can’t wait for Ellie’s visit!

Ellie is cool too! She had a face-off with a goat once. Guess who won?!

Just kidding… they were just playing!

Happy Friday, everyone, and have a great weekend!

Hope you find someone to supervise your therapy visits, Sophie. I admire what you want to do. Mom thought about that for me but I don’t think I’m cut out to be a therapy cat. Besides, mom feeds me raw food and I guess that is not allowed. Anyway, good luck to you! Enjoy the visit from Ellie.

Strange about the larger facility not interested in a therapy cat since we all know that many of the residents living there no doubt once owned and loved cats! But that just means you have yet to find the purrfect situation for Sophie! It will be fun to see where she gets her start ๐Ÿ™‚
    Love the carrier…
Ellie is sweet and will have fun on her visit to you. Our two pups get along with the cats and everyone loves one another.
Now come have some grog with us mateys!

I feel sorry for the residents at that big elder care community that said they were not interested in therapy cat visits, because I am sure there are residents there who would love to see a kitty. ๐Ÿ™ I know you’ll find a facility soon that will welcome you with open arms.
BTW, what IS that carrier that Sophie is in – and where do you get one? I need something like that!

Don’t give up Sophie! There is more than one fish in the ocean. We know how great you will be, and it’s just a matter of finding the right place. Some people just aren’t enlightened.

Ellie is a cutie pie. We sure hope efurrybuddy gets along and has a fun time. Mom and Dad had two small dogs when they got their fist kitty. Sophie looks so cute in her little carrier. We bet she feels great ’cause she is right next to Mom Emily. We certainly hope that a facility can be found where Sophie can get the training she needs. Love from all of us to all of you. Good luck to Sophie with her quest to become a therapy cat. We can’t believe those facilities aren’t interested in having a therapy cat. We know the right place is out there.

Its exciting to knows that yous can become a therapy cat, but it must be so furry frustrating to have these barriers! Wes sends you lots of patience!
And a doggy visit can be fun! Ellie looks like she’s a fun dog!

Good luck with that guys, we have been trying to whip our mama into shape too so we can visit our blogging friends more often.
We are crossing our paws that you can find a facility willing to help get Sophie certified. We knows she would be the most wonderful therapy cat ever.
    Ellie is too cute.
